The traumatic experience of rape affects you in a physical, psychological, and sociological way. The aftermath affects us differently, but each one of us experiences the effects. Sometimes we look so put together in most areas we neglect to deal with the small areas that have kept us in bondage. One of the therapeutic tools I have done is to write down the incident and the feelings I had toward the traumatic event. The process was unpleasant, but the freedom I felt after was undeniable. Address the elephant in the room. If you have not talked about the incident/ the rape or sought spiritual or mental help, I encourage you to do so. Just trying to forget about it is not going to make things go away. Above all, talk to God and allow Him to lead you through your healing process.
